Moisture Related Problems in Concrete Sub-Floors
Whether installing cementitious underlayments, decorative overlayments and toppings or when installing traditional flooring systems, an often overlook aspect of a successful installation is MVE or moisture vapor emissions. Excessive moisture in concrete causes problems such as: Failure of flooring adhesive, efflorescence and blistering, damage to the decorative “upper layer” of the floor itself, and the growth of fungi such as mold and mildew. When the amount of moisture coming from the concrete subfloor is greater than the amount allowed for any given flooring manufacturer, moisture control systems are needed to prevent the afore-mentioned damages. Cemtec Restoration has over two decades of experience in applying both one-coat and two-coat Moisture Vapor Emission control systems.
